BACKFLOW TESTING STILL REQUIRED DURING PANDEMIC AND HERE IS WHY

Updated: Aug 20, 2020

Backflow testing and maintenance is critical to public health; so water districts will still be requiring annual backflow testing during the Covid-19 pandemic. Maintaining a backflow prevention program is an essential function of any municipality according to WAC 246-290-490. Backflow prevention is a vital asset municipalities use to ensure the drinking water quality for both City and County residents. For this reason, backflow testing services are considered an essential function under Governor Jay Inslee’s Stay at Home order.

Many plumbing systems that require a backflow preventer are considered extremely hazardous to the drinking water supply. When a backflow preventer is not functioning properly, it can lead to an outbreak of waterborne illnesses such as Hepatitis A or Legionnaires’ disease. At present, such an outbreak could be devastating to our already overburdened healthcare system. We are taking steps to ensure our own safety and the safety of our customers by sanitizing our hands before and after each stop, and using appropriate masks and practicing social distancing. By continuing to have your backflow assemblies’ tested you will be doing your part to safeguard our drinking water supply, and together we will be doing our part to safe guard public health during the Covid-19 pandemic. Axis Backflow Testing is here for you, and will continue to provide you, your family, and or your business, with our vital service. We wish you all the best and hope you and your families are all healthy and happy in this difficult times.
